Deferred Action Relief for Young Immigrants – Conference Call

On June 18, 2012, I participated in a conference call with Alejandro Mayorkas, Director, USCIS, David Aguilar, Acting Commissioner, CBP, and John Morton, Director, ICE.  It was made extremely clear that the government is NOT accepting requests for deferred action at this time and to be very wary of notaries/notarios, immigration paralegals, immigration consultants, tax preparers, form preparers, translators, etc. who claim that they can file these requests at this time.  It will likely take the announced 60 days for the government to start accepting requests for deferred action.  Once the government begins to accept deferred action requests, young immigrants should use a qualified immigration attorney to prepare and file these requests.  Watch out for fraud and the unauthorized practice of law by notaries/notarios, immigration paralegals, immigration consultants, tax preparers, form preparers, translators, etc.
